Hoover Dam

At that time I had no idea of what is Hoover Dam.  My husband tried to explain it to me, but I still didn’t understand until I we got there.  Hoover Dam is a large arch gravity dam located on the border of the States of Nevada and Arizona on the Colorado River in what is known as Black Canyon. It provides flood protection for numerous areas downstream, and electric power and water for Las Vegas. It is a major tourist attraction south of Las Vegas.  I was so scared to go down inside the dam, but my husband said it’s ok; there is nothing to be worried about. We took an elevator down inside the dam where there are tunnels and numerous large hydroelectric power generators in the power house at the lower level on the downstream side of the dam.
